Issue of voter ID cards via e-Seva, Mee Seva centres by third week of Feb

The issue of Electors’ Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to newly registered voters through Mee Seva and e-Seva centres will take at least 10 more days to begin as this time the cards will be plastic ones containing colour photographs.

The officials concerned are waiting for new cards to be supplied by the Election Commission (EC) to facilitate their issue through the Mee Seva and e-Seva centers, according to Sub-Collector D. Harichandana.

She told The Hindu that voter cards were not being issued at the moment due to these reasons, but the process would soon begin once the printed ID cards are received from the EC.

She said that plastic EPIC are being implemented for the first time in the State, but it has not been made compulsory for the existing voters to shift to the new cards mainly due to shortage of time. The old EPIC could be converted into the hard plastic ones at a later date by paying a nominal fee.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh has given an Assembly constituency-wise list of e-Seva centres where EPIC will be issued on its website

Three e-Seva centres in Vijayawada city were designated for issuing EPIC: e-Seva centre situated in Kasu Brahmananda Reddy Municipal Complex on Visaalandhra Road near Chuttugunta for Vijayawada West, e-Seva centre in Municipal Circle-2 Office compound at Satyanarayanapuram for Vijayawada Central and the e-Seva centre in NTR Complex for Vijayawada East constituency.
