The Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) has signed an MoU with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Visakhapatnam on Saturday in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister for Education and HRD Ganta Srinivas Rao.
The MoU envisages implementation of ‘Andhra Pradesh University Students Employability Skill Development Programme, a flagship initiative of GoAP.
“We aim to transform Andhra Pradesh into a knowledge hub by providing quality education and giving opportunities for students for developing employability skills among universities and colleges,” the Chief Minister said.
TISS has been designated for implementation of National University Student Skill Development Programme which is aimed at enhancing employability skills of university students. Currently, it is being implemented across 11 universities in India. A comprehensive skill development model has been developed comprising basics of English communication and soft skills, digital/computer skills, analytical skills, financial literacy, legal literacy, entrepreneurship and leadership development with specialisation of specific domains.
The programme will be implemented through Jawahar Knowledge Centres. The candidates will be given certificates in management and soft skills on completion of first year of degree courses, certificates in respective domains on completion of the second year and diplomas certificates on completion of the third year.
The courses offered under Andhra Pradesh University Students Employability Skill Development Programme will be treated as parallel degree programmes.
