Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Institute Radiology Department director Ravi Ramakantan has been selected for the Prof. Kakarla Subbarao Gold Medal.

The gold medal and citation will be presented to Dr Ramakantan at the two-day National Resident Education Programme ((IREP) of the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) to be held at the Kay Hotel here on Saturday and Sunday.

IRIA vice-president and national coordinator of CME V.N. Varaprasad said Prof. Ramakantan would speak on the subject “Radiology 4 to 8” at noon on Sunday.

Prof. Ramakantan has over 60 research papers in indexed journals and more then 20 orations to his credit. Dr Varaprasad said it was a matter of prestige that the association selected Vijayawada for the IREP.

The Central Council favoured the city because of its excellent track record in conducting IRIA conferences in the past, despite stiff competition from Hyderabad and Kerala. He said that the association planned to register about 200 participants for the IREP on Emergency Radiology, but the responsive was overwhelming.
