A four-member delegation of Fuji Electric held parleys on the proposed Smart Grid in the Capital region of Andhra Pradesh with A.P Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (AP-SPDCL) Chief Engineer (Vijayawada zone) K. Rajabapaiah and Superintending Engineer S. Vijay Kumar at the SPDCL Circle office here on Monday.

Takashi Nohara, Chief Expert of the company’s Smart Community - Grand Design Department, Kazuhiko Hanoaka, General Manager, and two other senior executives of the Japanese energy giant, discussed about the project and offered technological assistance in its implementation.

Mr. Nohara and his team members enquired about power infrastructure in the region, how the southern DISCOM managed loads and reasons for variations in demand and supply.

While appreciating the DISCOM for its role in supplying power round-the-clock, they suggested that technologies available with Fuji Electric were capable of improving efficiencies and observed that much depends on weather conditions.

They asked about the temperatures and other seasonal variations that would impact the demand and balancing of loads on distribution transformers.

“Fuji Electric has successfully demonstrated its technologies around the world and it is looking forward to a fruitful association with the power utilities in A.P”, Mr. Nohara asserted.

This is one area where Fuji Electric could provide some path-breaking solutions he said and expressed confidence that the government would provide adequate funding for the ambitious project which would be extremely beneficial to consumers in the long run.

The delegation is scheduled to hold talks with Energy Department officials in Hyderabad on October 6 over funding and other issues concerning the project.
