Telugu Desam Party (TDP) workers from Machilipatnam came all the way to the temple city to invoke the blessings of Lord Venkateswara, praying for the victory of the party in the elections next year.

Led by Krishna district Telugu Yuvatha president Kona Nagarjuna, the 15--member contingent reached the city in the early hours of the day and started trekking from Alipiri, the foot of Tirumala hills.

At Alipiri, they dumped their placards carrying political slogans, as no political activities are permitted on Tirumala hills.

Speaking to the media, they expressed their resolve to get the party re-elected to power and make N. Chandrababu Naidu the Chief Minister again. Mr. Nagarjuna recalled the significance of Alipiri, which was witness to the attack on the life of Mr. Naidu in 2003, an incident that Mr. Naidu frequently refers to as ‘rebirth’. It is from this place that we are taking a vow to make him Chief Minister again, the party workers said.

The team included four women office-bearers from Machilipatnam. They offered to pray to the Lord to give their party supremo the much-needed strength to fight the ‘treacherous designs’ of rival party leaders, who, they alleged, were undertaking ‘below the belt’ tactics and nefarious designs against their party.
