Severe fog in the city disrupted flights at the Vijayawada International airport at Gannavaram on Thursday.
As dense fog severely hampered visibility, nearly all flights arriving into and departing from Vijayawada were affected. While the fog dissipated later and visibility improved, there were delays of about 10 to 15 minutes.
However, there were no diversions to nearby airport or cancellations.The passengers were held up at the airport due to flight delays and disruptions caused by the fog.
According to airport officials,two flights were delayed beyond half an hour, while the movement of four other flights was also impacted due to the fog. Six flights arrive/depart in the morning from the Vijayawada airport, they said.
The officials advised the passengers to check the flight status before heading to the airport.
