Fishermen are having a field day in the Krishna with the authorities releasing excess water from the Prakasam barrage. Many fishermen were seen testing their luck downstream the barrage.
The river fish have good demand and the fishermen have been reaping it rich for the last few days.
“Carp fetches ₹150 per kg and prawns ₹500 and above. However, it depends on the size,” a fisherman said. “Some are able to catch rohu, catla and other varieties. We are netting 2 kg and above. Even fish weighing above 5 kg are flowing down in the swirling waters,” said another fisherman.
All roads lead to river bund
Residents of Bhavanipuram, One Town, Sitanagaram, Tadepalli, Undavalli, Gollapudi, Krishnalanka and other areas are making a beeline for the river bund to buy the fresh fish.
“This is a good time for fishing. We are getting ₹3,000 and above. Some fishermen are netting freshwater crabs which too have good demand,” said the fishermen.
