Uniqueness, expertise and technical knowhow are three key traits the youth must be equipped to emerge successful in this highly competitive era, said B.L. Hanumantha Rao, Pay and Accounts Officer, State Finance Department.

Delivering a talk on ‘Triggering Thoughts Towards Better Youth Employability” at Maris Stella College here on Thursday, Mr. Rao said the educational institutions need to re-evaluate their teaching and learning methodologies to mould the students as per the requirement of the job-industry.

Describing unemployment as a big challenge, he said students should focus on improving their language skills and logical reasoning ability to make themselves more employable.

“We are living in an era of physical, social, psychological and technological disruptions and the youth is caught in the vicious circle of negativity that makes them feel insecure. They lack proper direction and the need of the hour is to keep them updated with the challenges. It is for them to decode the complexities,” he explained.

Women empowerment

Mr. Hanumantha Rao also underscored the need for women empowerment and complimented the management of Maris Stella College for several initiatives they had taken to equip the girls with the wherewithal to face life in a confident way.

College Principal Sr. Rekha urged the students to make use of the series of awareness programmes organised to help them inculcate skills, time management, competitive spirit and career-building skills.
