The city will host the official Republic Day celebrations for the first time and authorities are making elaborate arrangements at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation (IGMC) stadium – the venue for conducting different events as part of the celebrations.
Senior police officials along with their respective troupes from across the State have arrived in the city to conduct march-past on January 26.
Senior officials from different departments are coordinating different aspects pertaining to traffic regulation, route map, vehicle parking, and tableau route map. Efforts are being made to install temporary public address system for the convenience of police personnel for conducting march-past and other events at the stadium. Governor E.S.L.Narasimhan will unfurl the tricolour and the police department is ensuring fool-proof security arrangements and State-level authorities are overseeing the cultural programmes schedule and other aspects.
Measures are being taken to make arrangements in tune with the Independence Day celebrations conducted on August 15 at Kurnool.
