Durga temple’s growth in revenue dips

Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam, which enjoys the status of second biggest revenue-earning temple in the State, has slipped to the fourth place with regard to growth in revenue.

The State government recently made an appraisal of revenues and technology implementation of 59 temples that receive more than Rs. 1 crore gross revenue per annum.

According to information, the Kanaka Durga temple registered only 13 per cent growth in gross revenue compared to last year. The temple received Rs. 138.41 crore during 2015-16 compared to Rs.121.57 crore during 2014-15.

In comparison, Sri Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Devasthanam, Simhachalam, registered a growth of 79.46 per cent by receiving gross revenue of Rs. 124.21 crore during 2015-16. The Simhachalam temple received Rs. 69.21 crore in 2014-15. Sri Bramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Devasthanam, Srisailam, registered a growth of 17.79 per cent by receiving a gross revenue of Rs. 187.96 crore in 2015-16 compared to Rs. 159.57 crore received in 2014-15. Sri Venkateswara Swamy Devasthanam, Dwaraka Tirumala, got Rs.25.35 crore more this year compared to Rs. 54.36 crore in 2014-15 registering a growth of 46.64 per cent. Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy Devasthanam received Rs. 16.80 crore more in 2015-16 compared to total gross revenue of Rs. 76.12 crore in 2014-15.
