In an attempt to give easy access to people who intend to lodge complaints against corrupt government employees and officers, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has set up a toll free number 1064 at its headquarters.
The caller can dial the number and choose the language of communication– Telugu, English or Hindi. For indicating the region (Andhra or Rayalaseema), the caller has to press 1 for Andhra and 2 for Rayalaseema. For the operator’s assistance the complainant has to press 3 on phone.
Then, the caller has to inform the district from which he is calling. The operator will in turn transfer the call to ACB Joint Director (Andhra) or ACB JD (Rayalaseema). If the caller chooses 1 or 2, the call will be transferred to the concerned JD directly. In case the official are not available, the call will be recorded in the system and a token is generated after the complaints is received. The computer transfers the recorded voice call to the concerned JD later.
The callers on this number will not be charged and the charges will be borne by the ACB, said the ACB Director General (DG).
He appealed to people to come forward to lodge complaints against corruption in the government departments and public sector undertakings, said the DG in a press release.
People can also furnish information regarding the corrupt practices and details of disproportionate assets amassed by public servants, said the DG.
