Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam is expecting that an extra rush of about 10,000 devotees on Vijaya Dasami, which coincides with foundation stone laying ceremony for capital city on October 22. Usually, around 1.30 lakh devotees visit the temple on Vijaya Dasami every year.
According to information, the temple authorities can clear utmost 1,500 people in five hours if time required for harati at sanctum sanctorum and at aseervachanam mandapam were considered. The temple authorities provide the visiting VIPs a photograph of goddess Kanaka Durga, laddu and sesha vastram.
The Kanaka Durga temple authorities have decided to provide darshan to the VIPs from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. every day during the festivities.
The VIPs would have to pay Rs. 300 per head for darshan.
The State government is contemplating sending the VIPs to the temple in same cars that were provided to them as transportation to the capital city area.
Usually, the VIPs visiting the temple would have to park their cars at Model Guest House and use the transportation provided by the temple authorities.
No private and government vehicles, except those of VVIPs, are allowed on ghat road during the festival days. Only temple buses, media and VIP cars provided by the temple are allowed during the festival.
But, the district administration is contemplating sending the VIPs directly to temple this year.
When contacted, Temple Executive Officer Ch. Narsing Rao said that the temple was making necessary arrangements for smooth passage of Dasara festival, more particularly on Vijaya Dasami day.
Every VIP would have to purchase Rs. 300 ticket. And there were no exceptions.
The temple authorities are expecting 1.80 lakh devotees would throng Indrakeeladri on October 19, Moola nakshstram day/Saraswati alankaram.
The authorities have decided not to sell Rs. 50, Rs.100 and Rs. 250 tickets for the devotees on that day. Not fewer than 10 lakh devotees would visit the temple during the festival.
The temple authorities calculated that they would be able to clear utmost 1.70 lakh rush in 21 hours on Moola nakshatram day on October 19.
A devotee would hardly get two seconds to have glimpse of the presiding deity.
