Distributing 620 ration cards, 94 Bangaru Talli certificates and 536 house sites at Rachabanda in the Market Yard in Vuyyuru, Minister for Secondary Education K. Parthasarathi, on Tuesday, said that it was only the Congress party that has done maximum for farmers.
Launching a scathing attack on Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the Minister pointed out that the TDP government in its nine-year rule had allocated only Rs. 7,500 crores for farmers whereas the Congress has spent over Rs. 40,000 crores.
Heaping praises on Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, he said, “The CM made it very clear that the Bangaru Talli scheme was not launched for garnering votes as the people will reap the benefits only after 21 years, but it was initiated to benefit the girl child.”
Touching upon the bifurcation issue, the Minister said that the Congress party was today being blamed for the Telangana issue, but in reality every party be it the TDP, YSR Congress or the BJP had a role in it.
“It was Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy who first took up the issue to Sonia Gandhi in 1999, when he was the Congress Legislature Party leader and later his son Jagan in the first plenary meeting of YSR Congress announced that the Central government should respect the sentiments of Telangana people and take decision basing on Article 3 of the Constitution. What did he mean by that?” questioned Mr. Parthasarathi. Taking on the TDP, the Minister added, “Both TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu and the party’s core committee agreed to the bifurcation and had given a letter to that effect. And, today, they are indulging in double speak. .”
