District Collector A. Babu on Wednesday inspected arrangements for the Republic Day function at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium here on Wednesday along with Municipal Commissioner G. Veerapandian.
Mr. Babu said a host of dignitaries, including Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, would participate in the event, which was expected to draw 25,000 to 30,000 people. Being celebrated in Vijayawada for the first time as a State-level programme post-bifurcation, it has to be taken as a challenge, the Collector said.
