September 09, 2011 11:55 am | Updated 11:55 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry has made a plea to the Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada, for introducing a special train for the convenience of the devotees during the Brahmotsavams at Lord Venkateswara Swamy Temple at Tirumala.

Chamber president Muthavarapu Murali Krishna and secretary Chukkapalli Ramakrishna Prasad said that though there were already four trains passing through Vijayawada to reach Tirupati, there were reports of these trains running full and berths not being available because of high demand. As per reports, there were nearly 3,000 to 4,000 passengers travelling daily by various trains between Vijayawada and Tirupati. The rush is because of many passengers in neighbouring places coming to board train at Vijayawada railway station. Mr. Murali Krishna said that in view of the starting of the Brahmotsavams on September 28, there was perceived to be a two-fold increase in the number of passengers. Stating that no inconvenience should be caused to devotees,

Mr. Murali Krishna said that a special daily inter-city train between Vijayawada and Tirupati during these days would be very helpful and convenient for the travelling devotees. The Chamber leaders said that the devotees were eagerly looking forward to introduction of such special trains during special occasions for the benefit of the travelling public.
