A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Saturday on charges of sexually assaulting two minor girls in Machilipatnam town in Krishna district. The alleged incident occurred on Friday.

Investigation Officer and Chilakalapudi Circle Inspector M. Venkata Narayana said the accused allegedly sexually assaulted the two girls, aged six, after inviting them to play with him. “The accused reportedly offered money to entice the girls to play with him,” the police officer said. The police swung into action based on a complaint by the mother of one of the girls.

The police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act and produced the accused before the Juvenile Justice Board.
