Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president N. Raghuveera Reddy on Tuesday accused the BJP-led government at the Centre and the one headed by the TDP in the State of pursuing anti-worker policies.

The Congress is the only party that has fought for the rights of workers, he said.

Mr. Raghuveera Reddy leader participated in the 70th anniversary of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (Intuc) at the Andhra Ratna Bhavan here.

The Congress leaders cut a cake to mark the occasion and gave away awards totrade union leaders who contributed to the welfare of workers.

‘Foreign visits of no use’

Speaking on the occasion, he said that several enactments that protected the interest of workers both in the organised and unorganised sectors came into being mainly due to the efforts of Intuc. He said Intuc was the biggest trade union in the country having 3.35 lakh members. Referring to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to the U.S., Mr. Raghuveera Reddy said that such exercises would not bring any investments to the country.
