Bijjam & Katasani families bury the hatchet

April 04, 2019 10:10 pm | Updated 10:10 pm IST

Foes turning friends is the hallmark of the elections this year. Kurnool district was witness to one such political bonhomie recently when former Congress heavyweight Kotla Jaya Surya Prakash Reddy joined the TDP and shook hands with his arch rival K.E. Krishnamurthy. Perhaps taking a cue from them, former Panyam MLA Bijjam Parthasarathi Reddy joined the YSRCP on Thursday, ending the long-standing feud between the Bijjam and Katasani families. The entry of Mr. Parthasarathi, who has substantial sway in the rural areas of Panyam and Banaganepalle, is expected to shore up the prospects of party candidates Katasani Rambhupal Reddy and Katasani Rami Reddy in both the constituencies. Mr. Parthasarathi won the Panyam Assembly seat in 1999 by defeating Mr. Ramabhupal Reddy.
