Bhavani Seva Dal serviceswill continue, says CP

Personnel asked to serve devotees in best possible manner

Police Commissioner Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao has said the police will continue Bhavani Seva Dal services during Dasara Utsdavams atop Indrakeeladri to help the needy every year.

The objective of the force is to help aged and needy devotees, who visited the temple for darshan, he said.

“A 150-strong Bhavani Seva Dal force has been constituted from this year to help the devotees during the Navaratri Utsavams. The seva dal police will assist the needy devotees at different places,” Mr. Tirumala Rao said.

The seva dal police, wearing special T-Shirts and caps, would station themselves near the inner sanctum and prasadam counters and help physically handicapped and aged persons, the Police Commissioner explained.

“The services are being extended with with the cooperation of Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devastanam staff and the police personnel on duty,” the city police chief said.

‘A pleasant experience’

The devotees expressed happiness over the services of the seva dal and thanked the police for the gesture.

“I came from Chintalapudi of West Godavari district to have darshan. The Bhavani Seva Dal helped me have darshan of the deity,” said an old woman V. Santha Devi.

The seva dal police said the service to the physically challenged and other needy devotees during the Dasara festivities was giving immense satisfaction.

One Town Circle Inspector D. Kasi Viswanath said 50 seva dal police were posted on the hill round the clock.

Mr. Tirumala Rao, who visited the temple on Friday, interacted with the devotees, Bhavani Seva Dal and other personnel on duty and enquired about the service activities. He asked the personnel to be courteous towards devotees and discharge their duties with spirituality.
