After deciding to hold the winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislature at Thullur in December, plans are being made to hold the budget session as well at the same venue.

The move was discussed during an all-party meeting chaired by Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao in Hyderabad on Friday. Legislative Council Chairman Chakrapani, Deputy Assembly Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad, Chief Whip Kalva Srinivasulu, YSRC leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu and Rajya Sabha Garikapati Mohana Rao were among those who attended the meeting.

The meeting also deliberated holding all future sessions at the temporary Assembly premises. But in the wake of the capital construction work set to begin in accordance with the master plan, the issue took a back seat.

The Speaker said there was no problem in holding both the sessions in Thullur and added that keeping this mind the temporary Assembly premises had to be readied. However, a final decision would be taken after the foundation ceremony.

The temporary Assembly premise is likely to come up on a five-acre site. Several factors such as members’ accommodation and transportation, including those of the staff would have to be taken into consideration. Arrangements have to be made for nearly 1,000 people and the expenditure involved in this exercise would also have to be included in the estimates for conducting the sessions at the temporary location.
