Army choppers to fly VIPs

The Airports of Authority of India (AAI) will fly in VVIPs to the venue on Thursday using Army helicopters. In addition, private choppers will be also used, according to officials.

The authorities have set up seven temporary helipads at the airport which witnessed a flurry of activity on Wednesday as a galaxy of VIPs, including Union Ministers and industrialists, started arriving. While two industrialists came in a private aircraft, a few politicians and dignitaries from New Delhi arrived in an Air India flight.

Legislative Council Chairman A. Chakrapani, Union Minister of State for Science & Tech Y.S. Chowdary, BJP national secretary Sidharth Nath Singh, representatives from Sumitomo Corporation and others landed in the evening. Ministers Kamineni Srinivas and Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu welcomed them. Officials said the family of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will arrive in a special aircraft on Thursday morning. Chief Ministers of other States and VIPs will be coming in chartered flights.
