APSSDC to start long-term courses

The Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) plans to introduce long-term placement-guaranteed courses for students from June 1.

“In the initial five months, students will be trained in mini assignments, and from November, they will be absorbed in projects. These are job-guaranteed programmes, and the aim is to impart training in various skills to at least 15,000 students by the end of this year,” says Ganta Subbarao, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Corporation.

To impart training to such a large number of students, the Corporation may need at least 4,000-5,000 trainers who are currently not available. “Trainers are not available in the market, we will have to prepare them and this is going to be a challenge,” Mr. Subbarao adds.

The Corporation is imparting training in electronics and telecommunication to . “We will extend the training programme in tribal areas. We will have to explore this particular area first to make them aware of the advantages of the programme. Candidates may be absorbed in jobs related to security, construction and textile sectors,” he said.
