Andhra Pradesh Bifurcation inevitable, says Sudhakar Reddy

‘CPI will also fight for the rights and the wellbeing of Seemandhra people’

The Congress and Telugu Desam Party governments that ruled the State for the last six decades should be held responsible for the scenario, where the bifurcation issue has come up, said Communist Party of India (CPI) national secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy.

At a public meeting here at Tumalapalli Kalakshetram on Saturday, on the occasion of the birth centenary celebrations of the former party general secretary Chandra Rajeswara Rao, he said that in the 1960s the Communist Party fought for united Andhra Pradesh, as the then Congress government had promised a massive development package for the backward Telangana region.

TD, Congress responsible

The Congress and the TDP subsequently in the last 60 years, had not worked for the development of Telangana region, and hence today, CPI favours a separate Telangana. At the same time the CPI would fight for the rights and the well being of the Seemandhra people, he added.

“Mr. Modi claims that he hails from a poor family.

He probably has to take a leaf from the life of former President K.R. Narayanan, before calling himself a poor man,” he alleged.

“The large scale rioting that followed post Godhra incident, had left over a 1,000 dead and about two lakh homeless and Mr. Modi was the CM of the State and he has no regret and neither has tendered an apology,” said Mr. Sudhakar Reddy. “And it is even more surprising to see TDP embrace such a communal party,” he added.

Earlier, recalling the contributions made by C.Rajeswara Rao, he said that the former till his last breath fought for land reforms and equitable distribution of land to the poor and the homeless.

Party State Secretary K. Narayana in his address said that Rajeswara Rao not only fought for the land rights in AP but took his fight to Uttar Pradesh and liberated the village of Lakhimpur from the clutches of feudal lords.

Nagendra Nath Ojha of Bharatiya Khet Mazdoor Union recalled how Rajewara Rao was instrumental in setting up of BKMU to solve the problems of agricultural workers.

Before the public meeting, a massive rally was organised from Chutugunta to the meeting venue.
