Auditor of the AgriGold Group was arrested by the sleuths of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Hyderabad on Wednesday.

Jonnavithula Durga Prasad, who had been absconding since the scam came to light, was accused number 25 in the case, CID officials said. Durga Prasad allegedly played a key role in handling the finances of the group’s four major companies that had mobilised huge money from the depositors and duped them.

He would be produced in the district court in Eluru on Thursday, the officials said. In all, 26 persons, including the group’s directors, had been booked, and 17 of them arrested. Five of the accused are still at large. Another key accused, Avva Sitarama Rao, was arrested on May 22 in Gurugram. Rao was one of the group’s directors and also brother of the group chairman, Venkata Rama Rao.
