India has 17 lakh homeless people, which is more than the combined population of countries like Bhutan, Maldives, and Iceland. Considering the importance and justice with homeless people World’ Big Sleep Out (happening in more the 20 countries over the globe, https://www.bigsleepout.com/), was launched across 30 cities of India on World Homeless Day on October 10.
In Guntur, SEEDS NGO organised activities with homeless residing at the Shelters for Urban Homeless (SUH) located at Arundelpet and Old Guntur maintained by SEEDS with the support of APMEPMA and Guntur Municipal Corporation. The AP Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas had issued a circular to observe World Homeless Day to raise awareness amongst all and to highlight and address the issues of homeless.
