Three dead, 12 taken ill due to food poisoning in Krishna district

Three persons died and nine others are being treated in two hospitals when they fell ill after consuming breakfast at an eatery at Mirjapuram village in Nuzvid mandal of Krishna district on Tuesday.

A group of 15 children led by their elders had their breakfast in the tiffin centre in the village on the Hanuman Junction – Nuzvid road. Two of them died at the Eluru Government Hospital where they were shifted. Another person was declared dead in the Pinnamaneni Hospital at Chinaoutupalli near Gannavaram.

The condition of five being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of Pinnamaneni Hospital was serious while four others have been discharged. The dead were identified as Kasinikarla Varalakshmi, 22, Visanapalli Ramalakshmi, 2, and Songa Sravanthi, 6 years.

Krishna district Rural Superintendent of Police B. Rajakumari said the owner of the eatery Nagamani was taken into custody. Those lying in a serious condition include Songa Jayaraju, 30, Devarapalli Nirikshina, 12, Kalapala Sunny, 8, and Chatagiri Vamsi, 12.

District Collector S.A.M. Rizvi visited the hospital and promised all help and best medical care.
