The School of Planning and Architecture-Vijayawada (SPAV) unveiled its plans for the capital city of Andhra Pradesh during the Annual Day celebrations on Sunday evening.

Models that reflected the City Region Plan and Vijayawada Metropolitan Regional Plan along with analyses of settlement hierarchies and socio-economic development potential of the region caught the attention of participants, who included Guntur MP Jayadev Galla.

He was all praise for the work done by the final year students. Capital, he said, represented the aspirations of people of the new State and expressed confidence that their dreams of a world-class city would be realised.

The students showcased eight different urban design schemes for the core part of capital complex including the Secretariat building, Legislative Assembly, Raj Bhavan, Chief Minister’s and Ministers’ residences and MLAs’ hostel.

SPAV Director N. Sridharan said the students have done commendable work on the export potential of various agricultural commodities, growth trends of industrial and service sectors and the development of tourism along the waterways through comprehensive riverfront and canal-front development projects.
