Indian Medical Association president-elect P. Gangadhara Rao on Saturday said that the decision to conduct NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) by cancelling EAMCET for the medical students of Andhra Pradesh has delivered a crippling blow to the students of the State.
He said the syllabi of EAMCET and NEET were different and students from the State would be all at sea. “The Central government should come out with a common syllabus for at least two years for the students to get adjusted to the new examination. On behalf of Andhra Pradesh, we will be approaching the Supreme Court,” he said.
Association secretary Rehman said that AP students said from Telugu medium will face hardship while appearing for NEET.
“NEET is conceived on the basis of CBSE syllabus and for those from the State curriculum it would be difficult. The students need some time to adjust for the new exam,” he felt.
Generic medicines
Reacting to generic medicines, the association members said the onus was on the Central government and the Ministry of Health to promote generic medicines among the public.
