Held for ‘harassing’ NRI

The Penamaluru police arrested a private employee, Vijaya Krishna, who was allegedly harassing an NRI woman over phone and through social media sites. The victim was staying in the U.S. for the last 15 years.

A resident of Penamaluru, Vijaya Krishna, managed to get the phone number and IDs of the woman and was sending objectionable messages and comments to the victim, who too was a native of Vijayawada.

Following a complaint, the police arrested Vijaya Krishna and seized his mobile phone, computer, hard disks and other electronic gadgets used by him and sent them to Forensic Science Laboratory for examination, said Penamaluru CI K. Damodar. Cases have been registered against the suspect under Sections 354 (d), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of IPC and under IT Act 2008.
