Curb growing crime rate, SP tells police

October 29, 2010 04:41 pm | Updated 04:41 pm IST - GUNTUR:

Superintendent of Police, Guntur Urban, DS Chauhan directed the police officers to crack down on anti-social elements and peg the growing crime rate.

At a marathon crime review meeting held at Umesh Chandra Conference Hall on Thursday, Mr. Chauhan said that the recently carved Urban Police District would soon be strengthened in terms of man power and logistical support.

He asked all the DSPs to ensure continuous night patrolling in sensitive areas. The Station House Officers should make sure all the constables on night beat were reporting for duty. All old suspect-sheeters should be regularly called in for counselling.

Focus

Special focus should be placed on traffic. With a new DSP allotted for Traffic alone, a better traffic management plan could be evolved. He asked the police to crack down on over loading of autos.

DSPs, D. Koteswara Rao, Annapurna Reddy, Nunjadappa etc were present.
