C.V.S. Manas’ ‘Theme Park’ was every child’s delight. “It’s an imaginary park I created on the computer screen where birds swim in water, fish fly in the sky and chariots disappear at the slightest touch of a hand,” explained the fifth class boy breathlessly about his unique project.
The campus of Akshara International School was abuzz with parents visiting in droves, heading straight to the computer lab on the first floor. In the lab, children were busy explaining about the uniqueness of their online projects worked out to mark ‘Chrysalis Day 2010’ celebrations, on Monday.
A total of 350 students drawn from fourth to ninth classes and categorised into groups worked on these projects. The idea was to showcase their computer skills, an essential component of the school curriculum.
“Good Things…Small Packages” the computer screen of Sri Spoorthi of class eighth, screamed for attention. The bottomline was: “Save Trees Save Ecosystem”. K. Ketan of eighth standard tried to portray the scenario of a world without cell phones.Aashika of ninth class, with her team-mates Ishrat, Manasvi and Manisha, emphasised the need for a healthy diet.
“The school entered into a tie-up with EZ Vidya, a Chennai-based educational consulting and services company, and created this platform to allow children to hone their computer skills,” said Principal Sarada Anil Kumar.“Through this project, the thinking skills of students are integrated into Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) projects. We help students discover new ideas or concepts,” said Vipindas H. of ‘EZ Vidya’.
