28 home guards get selected as constables

Sawang’s efforts to help them with coaching pay off

Commissioner of Police D. Gautam Sawang is a pleased man for his initiative to help home guards graduate as constables met with huge success.

As many as 28 home guards, out of 77 who appeared for the final interview, got selected and they will now be on the roles of the police department as police constables.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Mr. Sawang said the department gave home guards full support in their preparation by arranging coaching classes with the help of local institutions and publishing houses.

Mr. Sawang also extended the initiative to aspiring youngsters from the weaker sections of the society. “Seven youngsters, including a girl, got selected from this initiative,” he added.

Study material

K. Sridhar of Sridhar CCE along with several faculty members taught English, reasoning, geography, physics, biology, history, current affairs, arithmetic and other subjects and two publishing houses – SS Publications and Anu Publishing House - prepared the study material for the candidates. Mr. Sawang said the department would continue to offer such support.

Later, all the faculty members and proprietors of the publishing houses were felicitated by the department.
