162 applications filed for Pedavutapalli liquor shop

Prohibition and Excise (P&E) Department will allot liquor shops to a few shopping malls as per the new excise policy. However, the officials could not confirm about the number of shops to be opened in malls.

A few shopping malls have filed applications. The decision on setting up of micro breweries (sale of beer in selected points) was not yet finalised, said the P&E officials. The highest number of 162 applications were submitted for Pedavutapalli liquor shop. For eight shops, not even a single application was filed in the district and 29 shops got single applications, said P&E Krishna District Deputy Commissioner S.V.V.N. Babji Rao. Police made foolproof security arrangements for allotment of shops at Collectorate in Machilipatnam on Monday. Collector Babu. A or Joint Collector Gandham Chandrudu will pick the draw of lottery, said the Deputy Commissioner.
