As part of its efforts to promote Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), the Government of Andhra Pradesh has targeted to develop 11 sector-specific MSME Parks in six districts where it has already acquired land for 10 of them.
According to a press release by the Commissioner of Industries, Siddharth Jain, the government considers the MSMEs as the drivers of growth and plans to establish an MSME Park in each Assembly constituency. Out of the 175 parks, the government has land for 42 in 13 districts.
Industries Minister N. Amaranatha Reddy is concentrating on the development of the parks under the guidance of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Secretary (Industries) Solomon Arokia Raj has taken the proposal forward by getting land readied for almost all the parks.
Of the 11 sector-specific parks, two are earmarked for surgical equipment and medical devices at Pendurthi and Bheemunipatnam respectively in Visakhapatnam district, two for plastics and chemical products at Nandigama and Mylavaram in Krishna district, two for garment manufacturing and wood processing and furniture at Kavali and Nellore rural in Nellore district, a cluster for dairy development at Palamaner in Chittoor district, two clusters for silk reeling and twisting and automobile units at Hindupur and Puttaparthi in Anantapur district, and one for making agricultural implements at Denduluru in West Godavari district.
The Industries Department is scouting for land for a ceramic cluster.
MoUs signed
Mr. Jain says the department has signed MoU for 2,244 projects in the MSME sector with a total committed investment of ₹3,642 crore and employment potential for close to 50,000 people.
Out of these projects, 1,096 units are in various stages and some have already gone into production. The remaining are in the process of submitting detailed project reports.
