May 09, 2017 12:41 am | Updated 12:41 am IST - TIRUCHI:

A group of visually-impaired persons from Nagamangalam, including women, have sought immediate intervention by the district administration and the police personnel for ensuring their safety from being abused by residents of a neighbouring area.

In a petition to the District Collector, T. Marimuthu, the Parvaiyatror Kudiyiruppu Nala Sangam said visually-impaired persons and a group of Adhiyar families were rehabilitated by the former District Collector Moorthy at Nagamangalam about two decades ago. Of late, the neighbours, particularly youth, were resorting to pelting of stones on the roof of their residences. At times, they also resorted to polluting the community water tap area by taking bath.

They wanted immediate action by the police and district administration ensuring safety. They had already preferred a complaint with the Manikandam police station but of no avail.
