Two persons riding a motorcycle died after a Sports Utility Vehicle hit them from behind on the Tiruchi – Madurai national highway at Kallamedu in the district on Friday evening.
Police gave the names of the deceased as M. Balusamy, 50, and M. Palanisamy, 40. Balusamy, Palanisamy and Shanmugam were returning home on a two-wheeler after attending a feast at Kovilpatti when the fatal accident occurred.
While Balusamy died on the spot, Palanisamy died on the way to the hospital. Shanmugam, the two-wheeler rider, is undergoing treatment in a private hospital at Manapparai. The Valanadu police are investigating.
