Two youths from Chennai drowned in the Cauvery at Andhanallur, a few kilometres from here, on Thursday.
Police identified the deceased as J. Karthik (24) of Ayanavaram and R. Kishore Kumar (22) of Ambattur.
The two along with R. Dinesh (23) came here to their relative’s house for a temple festival.
They entered the river to take bath when Karthik and Kishore Kumar drowned while Dinesh managed to escape.
The bodies were retrieved and sent to Government Hospital here for a post mortem. The Jeeyapuram police have registered a case.
