Training for 50 prospective entrepreneurs

Fifty young prospective entrepreneurs drawn from Perambalur and Ariyalur districts are undergoing a training programme supported by the Central government, at the M.A.M. College of Engineering, under a scheme for Scheduled Caste students.

Titled ‘You Can Be An Entrepreneur, the month-long programme consisting of several modules conducted by Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI), Chennai, in partnership with the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, New Delhi, and National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Hyderabad, was inaugurated earlier this week by the District Collector of Perambalur, Darez Ahmed.

Materialising creative ideas with foresight was an important attribute of a successful entrepreneur, the Collector said, explaining the potential of educational institutions to foster such thoughts.

Dr.Darez expressed readiness to monitor the progress of the group through online social networking. M.A Mohamed Nizam, Secretary and Correspondent, MAM Group of Institutions, explained how good ideas serve as sound foundations. Only through entrepreneurship can the country's GDP be increased, the Joint Director of TAHDCO, Perambalur, said, while the District Manager of TAHDCO, Perambalur, Kannan, oriented the participants on the civil service scholarship scheme available for SC beneficiaries.

P.Suresh Kumar, former Regional Employment Director, Tiruchi, and Chief Coordinator, Entrepreneurship Development Cell, MAM Group of Institutions, spoke.
