‘Traffic’ Ramasamy, five others enter race in Srirangam

Petition seeking transfer of Police Commissioner sent to EC

Six Independents, including social activist ‘Traffic’ Ramasamy, filed their nomination on Friday for the Srirangam bypoll scheduled to be held on February 13. The Tamil Nadu Toddy Movement has also fielded its candidate.

While M.Manmadhan of Ayyankollal Kondan village in Virudhunagar district and R.Karthick (26) of K.K.Nagar in Tiruchi filed their papers before the Returning Officer, V.Manoharan, at the Revenue Divisional Office, E.Ananthan (34) of K.Kallikudi, D.Anand (33) of Mettu Street in Srirangam, L.Kathiresan of Tiruppur and Traffic Ramasamy of T.Nagar in Chennai presented their papers before the Assistant Returning Officer M.Maideen at the Srirangam taluk office in Thiruvanaikoil.

K.R.Ramasamy alias Traffic Ramasamy, who is testing his luck for the sixth time, has declared that neither he nor his spouse or dependents own any immovable asset. He has bank deposits to the tune of Rs.33,26,020.

Emerging after filing nomination, Mr. Ramasamy said that people are fed-up of corrupt politicians, and they want people with clean hands to represent them.

Both the AIADMK and the DMK were facing serious corruption charges and they had failed to live up to the expectation of people.

There was a strong need for cleaning the corrupt administration.

“If elected, I will be a model representative,” he said. Mr. Ramasamy also said that he had sent a petition to the Election Commission seeking the transfer of Commissioner of Police Sailesh Kumar Yadav as he had completed more than three years of service in the city.
