Temporary bus stands to come up in Tiruchi

Basic amenities would be provided and police deployed to provide security

The police have announced that buses proceeding in the Thanjavur, Pudukottai and Madurai routes would be operated from temporary bus stands from October 24 to 30.

The temporary bus stands would be created in connection with the Deepavali festival to ease congestion.

Buses proceeding in the Thanjavur route from here would be operated near the State Transport Corporation depot close to Sona Mina theatre.

Buses plying in the Pudukottai and Madurai routes from here would be operated from the Mannarpuram roundabout.

Chennai-bound government buses from southern districts and those proceeding to Chennai from Pudukottai via Tiruchi would halt at Mannarpuram for passengers to alight and board and proceed on the national highway.

A press release said buses proceeding to other cities and towns from here would be operated as usual from the central bus stand.

Arrangements have been made through the State Transport Corporation to ply circular buses from the central bus stand to Mannarpuram and back.

Basic amenities would be provided at the temporary bus stands where police personnel would be deployed to provide security.

Announcements through public address system would be made regarding operation of buses.

Buses should halt at the designated stops in the city. Vans, cars and autorickshaws should not be parked in such a way hampering vehicular movements.

Traders and road-side vendors should not encroach roads to carry out their business.

Those selling crackers should sell them only at the permitted places. Stern action would be taken against those violating rules.
