A group of contract workers of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) Limited were arrested here on Wednesday after they picketed the Tangedco office at Mannarpuram here in support of their demands.

Around 76 workers affiliated to the Central Organisation of Tamil Nadu Electricity Employees, holding CITU flags, assembled in front of the Tangedco office demanding 30 per cent bonus and ex-gratia for them.

They demanded that 30 per cent bonus and ex-gratia be provided to all Tangedco employees, including engineers.

The protesting employees were arrested by the city police and released later in the evening.
