Rs.50 crore for DIC buildings: Minister

Officials told to ensure schemes meant for women, poor reach them quickly

The State government has allotted Rs.50 crore this financial year for renovating existing buildings or building new ones for district industries centres (DICs) in the State, said M.C.Sampath, Minister for Rural Industries and Noon Meal.

Employment for all

Chairing a meeting to review the functions of District Industries Centre and Tamil Nadu Small Industries Corporation here on Friday, Mr.Sampath said Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was drawing up various schemes to provide employment to all under the Vision 2023.

The State government has also allotted Rs.136 crore for promoting industrial clusters in the micro, small and medium enterprises sector through TANSI. General managers of District Industries Centres and branch managers of TANSI should forward proposals for the same to the government.

Mr.Sampath called upon the officials to ensure that all schemes meant for the development of women and poor reached them quickly.

Applications’ status reviewed

The Minister reviewed the status of applications for assistance submitted by entrepreneurs to the District Industries Centre, release of subsidy, and implementation of various other Central and State sponsored schemes.

N.R.Sivapathi, Minister for School Education, Youth Welfare and Sports, Niranjan Mardi, Principal Secretary, MSME Department, Harmander Singh, Industries Commissioner and Director of Industries and Commerce, Rita Harish Thakkar, Additional Director, Industries and Commerce, Jayashree Muralidharan, Collector, and R.Manoharan, MLA, attended the meeting.
