A large number of residents of Edamalaipatty Pudur and the areas belonging to the 40{+t}{+h}ward of the Tiruchirappali City Corporation on Monday thronged the Collectorate seeking the intervention of the Collector to direct the corporation to provide basic amenities.

Led by T. Muthu Selvam, councillor from 40{+t}{+h}ward, the residents met Collector K.S. Muthusamy and impressed upon the need to allocate special fund to create basis facilities. They said that although 19 years had passed since the merger of erstwhile Piratiyur town panchayat with the corporation, it was still looking like a village panchayat.

In spite of repeated demands, representations, and agitations, the area was continued to be neglected. Hence, steps must be taken to provide all facilities, including construction of an overhead tank, relaying of all roads, and so on.
