Though officials claim that adequate number of Direct Purchase Centres (DPC) have been set up in the district, there are complaints that some DPCs are yet to function.
Farmers of Pattavarthi in Papanasam taluk said that paddy, which could be packed in about 2000 gunny bags, brought by them to the place where a DPC would usually function is kept on the yard for the past three days.
Farmers in and around Devanodai in the same taluk also face similar problem where paddy brought to the place, where the DPC would normally function, is kept in open for the past one week.
When this issue was brought to the notice of officials concerned on Wednesday, they said that necessary steps have been initiated to operate DPCs at Devanodai and Pattavarthi.
