An official posted on duty at a counting centre in Thanjavur fainted on Friday.
Janani Soundarya, DRO, Arignar Anna Sugar Mill, Kurungulam, was involved in poll duty and was deputed to supervise the arrangements at Kundavai Nachiyar Government Womens College, Thanjavur, where the control units used in Thanjavur Parliamentary constituency election and Thanjavur Assembly segment by-poll were kept in strong rooms.
Around 11 a.m., she fainted while climbing the staircase. First aid was provided to her immediately.
