The National Institute of Technology-Tiruchi (NIT-T) will be incubating an innovative start-up venture, Trawello Healthcare, by its alumni at its Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Incubation (CEDI), a hub for promising entrepreneurs with workable business ideas.

Promoted by two alumni members of the 1998 batch, Dusmant Kumar Pati and Shrinath Honavalli, with rich expertise in the field, Trawello provides tech-based health screening for school kids with a vision to build ‘Healthy India’ through HealthyKID programme (www.healthykid.in).

Mr. Dusmant Kumar Pati worked in multiple MNCs such as Cisco and Redhat before setting up his first healthcare startup Getmymedicine.in, which he sold off, while Shrinath Honnavalli, who has an executive management certificate in healthcare from IIM Bangalore, has worked in companies such as Cisco and HPE.

With a mandate to support start-ups by offering workspace and funding, CEDI’s incubation facility has a capacity to accommodate 10 start-ups. The co-working space has desks, Internet, electricity, Wi-Fi, cafeteria, lounge, meeting room, and parking conveniences.

The Incubator analyses challenges of individual start-ups and then support them without increasing their risk, by drawing on the expertise of experienced professionals, M. Umapathy, Dean (Research and Consultancy), NIT-T, said.

The CEDI- NITT incubator is designed to promote start-ups in Internet, mobile and software technology domains and Healthcare, Energy, agriculture, space and manufacturing sector at large, he added.

The incubator, in future, will generate funds specifically to support investments in start-ups with promising potential by alumni, NIT-T Director Mini Shaji Thomas said.

Though there are numerous business incubators and start-up communities, the success rate of start-up entrepreneurs is still extremely low. To sustain their entrepreneurial journey, they require genuine support, which the NIT-T will provide, she said.

Mr. Umapathy can be contacted for more details on the start-up eco system in NIT-T campus over phone 9486001112 or email: deanrc@nitt.edu.
