Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharmaman on Sunday took stock of the progress of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital.
Accompanied by Dean In-Charge Ekanathan, the Minister interacted with 13 patients, including three women, to determine the quality of treatment.
She said the scheme that provided for treatment to the value of ₹ 5 lakh per beneficiary was specifically meant for the poor.
Dr. Ekanathan informed the Minister that treatment to the value of ₹4.35 crore had been provided to 1,882 patients over the last five months.
