PUDUKOTTAI

New buildings to house Veterinary Dispensary have been constructed at Perumanadu and Malaikudipatti villages in Annavasal block coming under the Viralimalai Assembly constituency in the district.

Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar inaugurated the new buildings on Saturday. The Minister also inaugurated an upgraded Veterinary Dispensary at Periyakurumbapatti village in the same block. Earlier, it functioned as a Veterinary Sub Centre.

Inaugurating the facilities, the Health Minister said medicines worth ₹ 1 lakh would be provided to the upgraded Veterinary Dispensary every year adding that a Permanent Veterinary Assistant Surgeon and a Animal Husbandry Assistant would be appointed to it. In addition to these, necessary veterinary equipment would be provided to the upgraded dispensary costing ₹ 50,000.

New buildings constructed for the Veterinary Dispensaries at a cost of ₹ 54.6 lakh would have ample space to provide necessary treatment to the livestock, he said. Collector P. Uma Maheswari and officials of the Animal Husbandry Department were present, an official release said.
