Construction of a police station at Vathalai on Tiruchi - Musiri highway has been completed.
This station was housed in an old building for decades. Built during the British era, it was its own building and it resembled like a residential one. Though the station has a lot of space, it was not utilised. So, the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation decided to construct a building at an estimate of ₹ 63.25 lakh and the work was taken up about a year ago.
According to sources, care has been taken to ensure adequate space for the police. “The old building was strong but does not have adequate space for police officers. Four wheelers seized are being kept in the open but the new station has space for stocking these property,” he said. The plinth area of the new building is 2,300 square feet including 1,190 square feet on the first and second floor each. It will have a separate chamber for the police, record room and other basic infrastructure. Now, a major part of the work had been completed and will be inaugurated in course of time.
