The reported confession of an accused in a murder case that he had allegedly committed another murder near Somarasampet last month has prompted the police to conduct inquiries in that case as well.
Jayakanthan was named as the prime accused and detained in the murder of V. Deva (23) who was done to death in his house at Inampuliyur near Somarasampet a couple of days ago.
After having detained Jayakanthan in connection with the murder of Deva, the police conducted inquiries during which Jayakanthan reportedly confessed to have committed another murder – that of a businessman who went missing a month ago.
On the basis of information provided by him, the police took Jayakanthan to the spot near Somarasampet where he claimed to have buried the body of the businessman after allegedly killing him.
Revenue officials inspected the spot along with the police and the exhumation is planned to be carried out on Saturday to verify the claims of Jayakanthan, said police sources.
Further probe would be done after exhumation and establishing scientifically that the buried body was that of the missing businessman who is said to have been murdered.
